Sylvia,
The grass-fed beef industry is gaining popularity because it is the better alternative to grain/corn-fed beef. Cows are grazing animals. When they are fed grain/corn diets, e coli 0157 develops in their gut. However, if switched from a grain diet to grass diet, they shed something like 90% of this bacteria in just the first week.
Furthermore, the reason the beef industry leaves such a large carbon footprint is because of the extensive farming it is required to grow the grain/corn that they feed the cows. Grass-feeding cows eliminates this problem. However, grazing can also cause environmental damage and ecosystem disruption, particularly over grazing.

Why is the grass-fed beef industry gaining so much popularity and why are they convincing people that it's good for animal flesh protein and health benefits?
